Bird Flue Again ⭐⭐⭐ In recent months, India has experienced several outbreaks of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, across various states: Kerala (October 2024): In Kottayam district, an outbreak led to the culling of nearly 7,000 ducks to prevent the spread of the H5N1 virus. Jharkhand (April 2024): A bird flu outbreak was confirmed at the Regional Poultry Farm in Hotwar, Ranchi, resulting in the culling of over 4,000 birds. The state government imposed a ban on the sale of poultry products within a one-kilometer radius of the affected area. Andhra Pradesh (February 2024): In Nellore district, authorities confirmed an outbreak after numerous chickens died. Preventive measures included closing chicken shops within a one-kilometer radius of the affected villages for three months. Odisha (August 2024): In the Pipili area of Puri district, the detection of the H5N1 strain led to the culling of over 5,000 chickens. Officials planned to cull a total of 20,000 birds within a one-kilometer radius of the outbreak's epicenter. These incidents highlight the importance of vigilant monitoring and rapid response to avian influenza outbreaks to prevent further spread.
